Kitsap home prices ascend - North Kitsap Herald
Kitsap is “the eddy” to Seattle’s fast-current market, according to Frank Wilson, Kitsap district manager for John L. Scott Real Estate and a member of the Northwest Multiple Listing Service board of directors. “Our homes are still selling nicely, with a medium amount of multi-offer activity and a normal-market spring ramp-up,” he said. In March, the median closing price of a home in Kitsap County was $230,550 — a 32.10 percent increase over the same month last year, according to the Northwest MLS, which tracks real estate data in 21 Washington counties. Kitsap County tied with Tacoma for fourth-highest closed-sale price, behind No. 1 San Juan County, No. 2 King County and No. 3 Snohomish County. In March, real estate agencies reported 507 new listings in Kitsap County, 1,287 total active listings, 435 pending sales, and 246 closed sales.

Home Renovation Without Aggravation
Think 2016 might finally be the year to tackle that big home renovation project you’ve been putting off? Welcome to the club. Fueled largely by the rebounding housing market, home improvement spending is projected to reach $155 billion this year, surpassing the peak set in 2006, according to Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. At the same time, the construction industry is in the throes of a massive labor shortage, having shed more than 2 million jobs since 2007.

Explosive housing costs in Seattle are sparking interest in Kitsap County’s real-estate market -...
Is South Kitsap and Port Orchard on the cusp of becoming a viable alternative for King County residents being priced out of their housing market? According to Mike Eliason, executive director of the Kitsap County Association of Realtors, the county already is an option. In fact, he says, a “huge percentage” of Kitsap residents now commute into Seattle. And, he expects that trend to grow. With middle-income families in Seattle and King County scrambling to buy from a diminishing number of available homes, often competing for properties that get multiple offers, buyers have begun to take a look at Kitsap County as a potential nesting place.
